Is it a good thing for a gym to be selling extra-large chocolate bars at their front desk for charity purposes (raising money to send kids to athletic events on the east coast)? I have my thoughts, but I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this offering. Good, bad, bad or indifferent? Suggestions for better ways ways to raise money? I will follow up with an additional post with a summary of comments and ideas.
I can see why you would raise this as a concern, given the perceived “health” environment of a gym. However, in this case, I think it’s pretty harmless. What’s likely more harmful in gyms are the types of beverages (sans water) offered in the machines or all of the protein powders and blah-blah-blah additives. BTW – if it were at Allstar Fitness, I was tempted to get the hazelnut bar, but passed it up.
Like anything, a healthy balance is the winning formula. After all, I made ice cream last night after running 4.5 miles and a meditation and feel incredibly balanced today!
I saw the giant sized chocolate bars at the front desk and thought that it was odd placement at a health club. A better option might have been to have a flyer on the desk and the candy bars out of sight so people had to ask for them.
