Endure

CANCER.  It is a word that many are fearful of hearing.  When one hears this word from a doctor, their life is turned upside down.  Our mortality all of sudden becomes real and the fear of pain and death take center stage.  Thoughts race through our head: “If I go through treatment how much pain will I have to endure to get healthy again and will I survive and if so for how long?” Numbers lack power when it comes to the pain that those affected suffer while going through treatment.  When family members lose their battle, it is the human connection that hits us in the gut when they are no longer by our side to share in all those wonderful life moments.

I can’t imagine what individuals endure going through treatment and I hope I never do. But like many, I have had close family members deal with a cancer prognosis. To help with finding a cure for Cancer, I have created a team to participate in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life event in West Seattle on June 15th/16th, 2012.  Team Mission to Move is going to endure for 16 hours in an attempt to reach our ambitious goal of 100+ miles / 400+ laps as we raise money for this cause.  Participating in this event allows us to show our support and solidarity for those that have survived or are living with cancer and to celebrate the memory of our loved ones.

For members who joined the team, this cause is dear to their heart.  Stephanie lost her sister to brain cancer in the last year.  While Rene has had both grandmother’s battle cancer with one surviving and one passing away.  I can count multiple family members who have battled cancer along with friends and co-workers in  the last couple of years and are survivors today.

We welcome your support with this special cause.  For more event or donation information, visit the Team Mission to Move Page.

We will endure now, so that others won’t have to in the future!
